The impact of interrupted learning has magnified the need for focused instruction and reading intervention to meet a wide range of student needs. As educators look to strengthen their Response to Intervention (RTI) or Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) programs, it is essential they can easily identify students who need support, create the right intervention plan, and monitor program success over time.
The Challenge
What is RTI or MTSS?
Response To Intervention (RTI) and Multi-Tiered Systems of Supports (MTSS) ensure all children have access to high-quality instruction and students who have difficulty reading, including those with learning disabilities, are identified and supported. RTI is a framework for implementing proactive, data-driven decision-making that provides teachers with more timely information empowering them to continually adjust instruction throughout the year to improve student learning. MTSS incorporates much of RTI, and builds on it. MTSS uses a tiered approach that addresses academic as well as the social, emotional, and behavioral development of children.
Your Reading Intervention Solution
Lexia’s flexible, Structured Literacy solutions provide explicit, systematic instruction, and an adaptive blended learning model with embedded assessment technology that are powerful tools to efficiently and effectively assist districts in scaling RTI and MTSS plans and accelerating learning for all students.
Lexia identifies skill gaps early and minimizes the need for intervention.
Embedded Assessment
RTI/MTSS decision-making is dependent upon reliable student performance data and progress monitoring. Lexia’s programs include our proprietary Assessment Without Testing®, an embedded assessment tool that provides educators with easy-to-use, real-time data reports, without ever requiring educators to stop to administer a test. Lexia provides the data necessary to understand students’ current skill levels and creates data-driven action plans to enable educators—regardless of their area of expertise—to deliver the right instruction. Lexia’s data-driven programs are designed to help students move through all Tiers of instruction to accelerate learning for all students. It provides whole-class instruction (Tier I), action plans and resources for small-group instruction (Tier II), and highly individualized interventions (Tier III) for students for one-on-one or pull-out intervention with a teacher or paraprofessional.
Identifying the Right Intervention Plan
Lexia’s adaptive blended learning model dynamically adapts instruction continuously for each student based on their unique strengths, needs, and challenges, creating more equitable, personalized learning for each student. Lexia® Core5® Reading and Lexia® PowerUpLiteracy®identify which students are at risk of not meeting grade-level standards, the areas students are having difficulty in, and automatically formulates targeted, recommended lessons (i.e., corrective instruction or teacher-led intervention) to be used in individual or small groups within the classroom or during pull-out intervention.
Monitoring Intervention Success
Lexia provides teachers and administrators a full view of student progress at the student, class, school, and district levels. Instructional leaders use this information to determine who needs intervention support, track the impact of intervention programs across a school or district to monitor acceleration, and assess the need for professional development for teachers and staff to address skill gaps.
