Literacy Acceleration for Students in Grades Pre-K–5
Lexia® Core5® Reading is an adaptive blended learning program that accelerates the development of literacy skills for students of all abilities, helping them make that critical shift from learning to read to reading to learn.
Acceleration For All
Elementary school years are a pivotal time for reading development, as they create a foundation for learning across all subject areas. Yet, according to the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP), year after year, roughly 60% of American fourth-graders are not reaching reading proficiency. For these children, literacy will continue to present a steeper uphill climb in the absence of targeted instruction and intervention.
Core5 was developed with a mission to mitigate that gap. Built on Structured Literacy, Core5 is intended to help provide equitable learning opportunities for all students, as well as to transform student learning for success and well-being. By enabling educators to provide differentiated literacy instruction for students of all abilities, Lexia's research-proven program helps substantially reduce students' risk of not meeting grade-level standards while still being able to give accelerated and on-track students the instruction they need to thrive.

Every Student Can Succeed: How Core5’s Adaptive Blended Learning Ensures Elementary Students Receive the Instruction They Deserve
Proactively addressing a wide variety of student needs relies on dynamic coordination across school systems. Prevention frameworks such as Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) and Response to Intervention (RTI) emphasize the essential elements of high-quality instruction, screening, progress monitoring, and data-based decision-making in teams (Center on Multi-Tiered Systems of Support). By providing effective instruction at a universal level and gathering regular, reliable information to understand student needs, any identified gaps in opportunity, knowledge, or skills can be addressed before they grow. However, even within tiered systems of support, a disproportionate amount of time and resources is often required to address individual needs at an intensive level.
