How Tonti Elementary in Chicago Uses Data to Inform Literacy Instruction
Ten years ago, reading scores at Enrico Tonti Elementary School in Chicago were "just O.K." But since implementing Core5 for grades K–5, the school has become a Level 1+ school—one of the highest rankings a public school can receive in Chicago.
In addition to using Core5, educators within the school have been using the science of reading to understand how students gain literacy skills. Our latest case study found 80% of students who started the 2021-2022 SY working below grade level advanced at least one grade level of material.
