Building Teacher Knowledge With LETRS and Aspire
When district leaders in San Antonio, Texas, elementary schools revamped their reading and language arts curriculum a few years ago, they needed a way to support their educators and to keep everyone on the same page. The district turned to Lexia® LETRS® Professional Learning.
Diana Palacios, assistant director for curriculum and instruction for the North East Independent School District in San Antonio, said LETRS quickly became their “literacy bible.”
“LETRS really helped us to be able to have a place to go back to, to refer to when we got stuck, and gave us ideas on next steps,” she said.
District leaders adopted Lexia® LETRS®. With this research-backed program, educators gained a deeper knowledge of literacy instruction and the science of reading.
Administrators started the implementation with 20 instructional coaches, who studied LETRS for two years and are now able to help other educators build their knowledge and take it into the classroom.
Palacio said, “It feels good when all of the pieces start coming together.” The next step is for her to complete Lexia® LETRS® for Administrators so she can be even more instrumental in helping teachers and students reach their literacy goals.
This short video demonstrates why San Antonio educators are now committed to their Lexia® journey.
