Lexia English and AZELLA Performance in Arizona

Strong support for English learners leads to strong outcomes on the Arizona English Language Learner Assessment (AZELLA). This infographic shows how using Lexia® English Language Development™ correlated with higher AZELLA scores for one Arizona district in 2024–25.

In this large suburban district, 901 students in grades K–6 used Lexia English as recommended. Findings from the Lexia® research team show clear alignment between consistent Lexia English use and AZELLA performance. Results show that:

• 97% of participating students met or exceeded their Lexia English proficiency level on AZELLA.

• Students working in higher Lexia English levels earned higher AZELLA scores.

• Many students showed meaningful growth in English language proficiency throughout the school year.

The alignment between Lexia English use and strong AZELLA scores means administrators can rely on the program to:

• Strengthen English language development intervention

• Monitor student progress toward AZELLA proficiency

• Identify whether students are on track throughout the year

• Support data-informed instructional decisions aligned to state expectations
