Lexia Core5 Drives Long-Term Literacy Gains for Virginia District
Virginia’s schools are seeking measurable and sustained literacy gains, and Lexia® Core5® Reading is helping them achieve those results. This infographic illustrates how Virginia students in grades 3–5 who regularly engaged with Core5 achieved higher proficiency scores on Standards of Learning (SOL) assessments over three school years.
The infographic features data from a large suburban school district during the 2022–23, 2023–24, and 2024–25 school years. It shows that the district’s students in grades 3–5 had higher SOL Reading scores when they used higher Core5 levels.
There was also strong alignment between students’ Core5 end-of-year benchmark status and their SOL proficiency levels, even when Virginia introduced new SOL standards in 2024–25. Among students meeting the end-of-year benchmark:
97% earned SOL proficiency in 2022–23.
95% earned SOL proficiency in 2023–24.
96% earned SOL proficiency in 2024–25.
