Lexia English Language Development Canada Annual Report
Lexia English Language Development™ is making a difference and empowering Emergent Bilinguals to thrive in Canada.
During the 2023–2024 school year, Lexia English helped more than 2,100 students across 370 schools in Canada make substantial progress toward language proficiency.
Students who used Lexia English as recommended:
- Built speaking, listening, and grammar skills by completing an average of 172 units
- Demonstrated what they learned across an average of 26 Presentations of Knowledge
- Made progress such that one in three students moved up a proficiency band in their respective language standard in the program
Additionally, Emergent Bilinguals who used Lexia English engaged in 54,000 hours of academic conversation, participated in 74,000 academic conversations, and 59% of their time in the program was spent in these conversations.
With students speaking so much, here’s what a few teachers had to say about this Adaptive Blended Learning program that aligns to multiple English language proficiency standards.
“Students have many opportunities to practice their speaking and listening skills in English as well as use real-life situations to apply the grammar skills that they are learning,” one teacher said. “Students receive scaffolded support when needed. The visuals and stories/information are culturally relevant.”
“I love the diversity,” another teacher said. “Students often comment when a character is similar to them.”
