Lexia® Core5® Reading continues to support measurable literacy progress for students across Canada. During the 2025–2026 school year, 99,000 students and 15,000 educators in 3,000 schools used Core5 to strengthen foundational reading skills, close literacy gaps, and support more equitable outcomes.

Students made substantial gains. The percentage working on skills at or above grade level increased from 20% to 62%. Among students who started the year two or more grade levels behind, 49% gained at least two grade levels in one year, while 33% reached grade level or met their grade-level benchmark by year end. Among students who began the year at grade level, 79% reached or exceeded their grade-level benchmark by year end.

Core5 combines adaptive technology with Structured Literacy instruction to provide support tailored to each student's needs. Students averaged 80 minutes of Core5 use each week and completed an average of 23 skills and corresponding Skill Checks during the academic year. Across participating schools, Core5 delivered 128,985 Level Certificates and 373,031 Lexia Lessons® and Lexia Skill Builders®.

The program's evidence base remains strong. Fourteen peer-reviewed studies of Core5 have been published over the past 10 years, including six with Tier 1 (Strong) ratings based on Every Student Succeeds Act criteria. Reported effect sizes range from 0.06 to 0.53.

Educator feedback also highlights usability and instructional efficiency. Ninety-two percent of educators say Core5 is easy to use, while 80% say it helps them provide targeted instruction more efficiently and 80% say it helps them evaluate student needs more efficiently. Together, these findings demonstrate how Core5 helps educators act on student data, personalize instruction, and support meaningful literacy growth across Canadian schools.
