Lexia® English Language Development™ continues to support meaningful language growth for Emergent Bilingual students across the U.S. During the 2025-2026 school year, 118,200 students and 67,700 educators in 5,800 schools used Lexia English to strengthen the speaking, listening, and grammar skills students need to participate confidently in academic learning.
Students who used the program as recommended completed an average of 183 units and 28 Presentations of Knowledge, which provide opportunities to demonstrate what they have learned. Across all grades, 2 in 5 students moved up a proficiency band in their respective language standard within the program.
Lexia English places student voice at the center of language development. Fifty-nine percent of students' time using the program was spent in conversations, resulting in 4.2 million academic conversations and 340,400 hours of total conversation during the school year. This sustained practice gives students frequent opportunities to strengthen oral language skills and build confidence using academic English.
The program aligns with multiple English language proficiency standards, including WIDA, California English Language Development Standards, Texas English Language Proficiency Standards, New York English Language Development Standards, and ELPA21. Research also shows positive effects on language development, with effect sizes in peer-reviewed studies ranging from 0.10 to 0.42. Emergent Bilingual students using Lexia English outperformed nonusers on assessments of language skills.
By combining student-driven language practice with support for educators, Lexia English helps schools address a range of English proficiency levels and learning needs. Together, these findings show how consistent, targeted practice can strengthen speaking, listening, and grammar skills while helping Emergent Bilingual students participate more fully in classroom learning.
