PowerUp Literacy Acceleration

Supporting adolescent readers means addressing widely varied skill gaps without losing sight of grade-level expectations. Lexia® PowerUp Literacy® gives school and district leaders a research-proven approach to accelerating literacy growth for students in grades 6–12 who need additional support. The program combines personalized, adaptive learning with teacher-led instruction and actionable data to help educators deliver targeted intervention efficiently. 

Built around Word Study, Grammar, and Comprehension, PowerUp addresses foundational literacy skills while developing the higher-order thinking and analytical skills students need to engage with increasingly complex texts. Individualized learning pathways allow students to work at the level appropriate to their needs across each domain, whether they have significant foundational gaps or need focused support to reach grade-level standards.

Research demonstrates measurable impact. PowerUp has been shown to be up to five times as effective as the average middle school reading intervention. Among students using the program consistently, 63% covered three grade levels of skills in a single school year. Students who reached the program’s final levels were also three times more likely to demonstrate proficiency on their end-of-year literacy assessment. 

PowerUp supports educators as well as students. Assessment Without Testing® provides ongoing progress-monitoring data without interrupting instruction for a separate test, while the myLexia® platform connects student performance with recommended instructional resources and next steps. The program can complement core curriculum, support Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) and Response to Intervention (RTI) models, and address diverse reading profiles, including those of multilingual students and students receiving special education services.
