Reading By Design: Science and Systems Support All Readers—Especially Students With Dyslexia
Dyslexia statistics are alarming. The actual number of students with dyslexia is much higher than previously thought. Estimates are that more than 10 million U.S. children have undiagnosed dyslexia. Students of color and Emergent Bilinguals are both over-diagnosed and under-diagnosed.
Schools have systemic challenges that include an outmoded understanding of dyslexia, misunderstanding of evidence-based instructional strategies, and the importance of trained teachers and literacy specialists. Old teaching practices such as the three-cueing method of balanced literacy are in the process of being banned across the nation. Structured Literacy, based in the science of reading, is proving effective for all students, including those with dyslexia.
Complete the form below to discover how school and district leaders can improve instructional systems for students with dyslexia and transform their literacy programs with professional learning, high-quality instructional materials, and proven teaching strategies that help all students become successful readers.
