Lexia Core5 Reading Helps Young Students Experience the Joy of Success

Teaching literacy is the most important, and sometimes the most difficult task, kindergarten educators do. But amazing accomplishments can be made with those young minds if you start them out on the right foot. 

For Tichina Wilson, a kindergarten teacher in the Bossier Parish School District, Louisiana, Lexia® Core5® Reading is the key for starting her young readers on the path to success. 

“Lexia® is amazing! The kids enjoy it. When students enjoy it, you’re going to get the best bang for your buck,” Wilson said.

Wilson starts her students with Core5 assessments, so she knows exactly where each student is on their journey. The data from the assessments shows what students are struggling with, so she can do appropriate small-group sessions. Once students work with their teacher, they return to Lexia for reinforcement of their new skills. 

Wilson says Core5 keeps her class motivated, and it is especially exciting when students see their own improvement. “They’re leveling up really fast,” Wilson said. “If they complete five units, it’s a celebration.”

Wilson credits Lexia’s research-proven program for getting her students ready for first grade, while having fun doing it.
