Florida Correlation Report

This Florida Correlation Report highlights compelling evidence from a large suburban school district linking student usage of Lexia® Core5® Reading to performance on the Florida Assessment of Student Thinking in English Language Arts (FAST ELA). The study examined more than 3,300 students in grades 3–5 who met Core5 usage expectations during the 2023–2024 school year.

Key findings revealed students who engaged more deeply with Core5—by completing more program levels—tended to earn higher FAST ELA scores during the PM3 testing window. Strong, positive, and statistically significant correlations (.59–.63 across grades, .67 overall) underscore the connection between Core5 participation and assessment outcomes.

Two predictive indicators stood out. First, 93% of students who were marked On Target in Core5 by midyear achieved proficiency (Level 3 or higher) on FAST ELA. Second, 90% of students who reached Core5’s end-of-year benchmark also scored proficient. These results suggest Core5 not only aligns with Florida’s literacy standards but also serves as a reliable predictor of FAST ELA success.
