Virginia’s Lexia Progress Report
Virginia educators are committed to equitably meeting the needs of all of the state’s students.
The Progress Report from the 2023–2024 school year demonstrates how Lexia® literacy programs have set up Virginia students for reading success.
Among students using Lexia® Core5® Reading, the percentage working at or above grade level nearly doubled, increasing from 46% to 87%. By the end of the year, 56% of students had reached their grade-level benchmarks, while those working below grade level decreased from 54% to just 13%. Educators praised Core5’s data-driven approach for providing actionable insights to address student needs effectively.
Lexia® PowerUp Literacy® also delivered significant gains. Fifty-two percent of students covered three grade levels in just one year, and fewer than 3% of students were working on kindergarten through second grade skills by year’s end. Teachers found PowerUp’s detailed data invaluable for targeting instruction to each student’s specific challenges.
Additionally, Lexia English Language Development™ helped nearly 80,000 students in more than 4,000 schools using WIDA standards-aligned reporting. One in three students moved up to the next proficiency band, and those who used the program as recommended completed an average of 1.7 levels, making Lexia an essential tool for language learners in Virginia and nationwide.
