Lexia® Core5® Oregon Progress Report
Proven Literacy Tools + Real-Time Data = Measurable Growth
Oregon educators implemented the Early Literacy Success Initiative, designed to improve literacy through grade 3.
Across the state, supplemental and intervention programs grounded in the science of reading are proving effective in accelerating students’ development of literacy skills. During the 2025–2026 school year, around 31,700 preK–5 students across 195 schools in Oregon used the Lexia® Core5® Reading program. Research-proven programs can help educators reach state literacy goals by providing actionable, real-time data to teachers, school administrators, and district administrators.
With embedded, AI-powered progress monitoring, Core5 gives teachers real-time insight into student growth—without adding to their workload. That means more effective differentiation, targeted support for every learner, and a personalized classroom experience that drives measurable reading gains. The result? Stronger teacher performance, higher retention, and better student outcomes across your school or district.
Oregon student performance speaks for itself. Among the 8,134 students who used the online components of the program with fidelity:
- 87% of students were working on material in or above grade level by year’s end (nearly doubling from 44% at the start of the year)
- The percentage of students below grade level dropped from 56% to just 13%, greatly reducing their risk for reading failure
- 57% of Oregon students reached their end-of-year, grade-level benchmarks in Core5
Students demonstrated substantial mastery, logging an average of 67 minutes a week for 29 weeks. Students mastered an average of 20 skills and covered approximately four levels of the program.
Core5’s Adaptive Blended Learning approach accelerates literacy skills for students of all abilities. Its comprehensive scope and sequence supports both foundational and advanced skills, while built-in assessment technology gives educators real-time, actionable insights to guide instruction and improve outcomes.
