Florida administrators, click the button below to download a PDF of Core5 Reading Alignment to Functional Reading Skills K–2.
This PDF document maps how Lexia® Core5® Reading aligns with the Florida Comprehensive Intervention Reading Plan.
For example, one of Florida's requirements is for students to decode two-syllable words with regular patterns by breaking the words into syllables. This is under the B.E.S.T. Standard ELA.1.F.1.3: Use knowledge of grade-appropriate phonics and word-analysis skills to decode words accurately.
For kindergarten students, this requirement matches these units in Lexia Core5 Reading:
- Core5 Skill Builders: L2: Phonological Awareness: Blending & Segmenting 1: p. 1-6
- Core5 Online Activity: L2: Blending & Segmenting 1: Units 1-8: TM p. 24
- Core5 Skill Builders: L3: Phonological Awareness: Blending & Segmenting 2: p. 1-6
- Core5 Online Activity: L3: Blending & Segmenting 2: Units 1-8: TM p. 30
- L2: Support for Instruction: Vocabulary Flashcards: Blending and Segmenting 1: p. 1-3
- L3: Support for Instruction: Vocabulary Flashcards: Blending and Segmenting 2: p. 1-3
- Core5 Lesson: L2: Phonological Awareness: Blending Syllables
- Core5 Connections: L2: Phonological Awareness: Blending Syllables into Words
- Core5 Connections: L2: Phonological Awareness: Segmenting Words into Syllables
- Core5 Lesson: L2: Phonological Awareness: Segmenting Syllables
Core5 has more unit matches to this B.E.S.T. Standard for grades 1 and 2 as well. Units work together, as students learn to build words up from their individual components, and to tear them down to get at their meanings.
The PDF document shows alignment for both online instruction and paper-based content (offline instructional materials).
