Georgia Lexia® PowerUp Literacy® GMAS Validity Report 2020-21
Students in a rural Georgia school district have shown the value of Lexia® PowerUp Literacy® for achieving gains on Georgia Milestones Assessment System (GMAS) English Language Arts (ELA).
This infographic shows how completing more of PowerUp correlated to higher scores on the assessment in 2020–2021. The following are among the highlights from 960 Georgia students in grades 6–8:
Correlations between students’ percentage of completion in PowerUp and their GMAS ELA scale scores show a strong, positive, statistically significant relationship. Overall, the correlation score was .59 for PowerUp completion and GMAS performance, a score well above the .35 considered to indicate a strong correlation.
Among students who reached the advanced zone in all strands of PowerUp, 80% were proficient on GMAS ELA.
