Additive Impact of Lexia® English Language Development™ and Lexia® Core5® Reading on WIDA ACCESS and MCAS ELA

This study examines the effect of using Lexia® English Language Development™ in conjunction with Lexia® Core5® Reading on the English language proficiency of multilingual learners. Lexia researchers analyzed language proficiency scores from the WIDA ACCESS assessment and the Massachusetts state English Language Arts (ELA) standardized test (MCAS ELA) for students in grades 1–5 across one school district during the 2022–23 academic year. Students who are multilingual learners who used both Lexia English and Core5 scored significantly higher on WIDA ACCESS and MCAS ELA compared to Core5-only users.
