NHCS elementary students improving on basic reading comprehension, get mixed results on end-of-grade tests

End-of-grade reading scores and DIBELS assessments are painting a different picture of reading proficiency for elementary schools in New Hanover County, North Carolina. District leaders say it can be difficult to assess all aspects of improvement, and they are looking at reading proficiency as a scale. There are also significant long-term investments, like training all educators in the science of reading with Lexia® LETRS®, that will pay off down the road.
