As Michigan scores fall, state superintendent blames local control ‘run amok’
Reading scores for students in Michigan are not improving and the superintendent had to defend himself in a contentious debate with the State Board of Education about the lack of improvement. Lexia® LETRS® training is available to educators and funded by the state, but only about 60% of eligible educators have completed the training. One state representative called for mandatory training for all educators as part of an improvement plan.
