Creating Successful Readers in Texas
Lexia Reading Core5® supports educators in providing differentiated literacy instruction for students of all abilities in grades pre-K–5. Lexia’s research-proven program provides explicit, systematic, personalized learning in the six areas of reading instruction, targeting skill gaps as they emerge, and providing teachers with the data and student-specific resources they need for individual or small-group instruction.
Over 15,800 students in grades K–5 used the Lexia Reading Core5 (Core5) blended learning program as recommended during the 2016/17 school year in 565 schools across Texas. Students of all abilities made substantial progress in Core5 across the year.
The percentage of students who were classified as working in or above grade level more than doubled by June (increased from 38% to 83%).
Half of students (50%) reached their grade-level benchmark in Core5.
Most students who started below grade level substantially reduced their risk for reading failure, ending the year working on skills in or above their grade-level benchmark in Core5 (reduced from 62% to 17%).
In this webinar, Liz Brooke, Ph.D., CCC-SLP, Chief Education Officer, discussed the 3 critical, research-proven, intervention and prevention strategies that help close the gap for struggling students and prevent on-level students from falling behind.
