[Testimonial] Lexia English: ‘It’s really a perfect program’
With more than 20,000 ESOL-served students, DeKalb County educators knew they needed an evidence-based program to help these students with English acquisition.
To do that, they turned to Lexia English Language Development™.
“DeKalb County is an interesting county because it’s filled with English Learners but in particular refugees,” says Yvette Drew, an English language coordinator for the district. “For the intensive students, we use Lexia English. We really like it because the domains that it attacks are really speaking and listening.”
With Lexia English’s culturally responsive pedagogies that support individualized learning paths for students, it creates a setting that values students and equips educators with actionable data and reports leading to better learning outcomes.
In fact, that’s what made Lexia English stand out for Daniella Bass, also a DeKalb English language coordinator.
“When we’re looking at resources for our teachers to use, we are looking that they are culturally responsive, and they also can support as many of our students as possible,” Bass says.
Ensuring her students are engaged and progressing are just some of the reasons Drew is so enthusiastic about Lexia English. “It’s really a perfect program,” she says.
