Students Using Lexia Core5 Reading Show Greater Reading Gains Than Comparison Students
The evidence from North Carolina is clear: Students who use Lexia® Core5® Reading in their literacy journeys are well-equipped to become skilled readers.
Data for more than 3,300 North Carolina students reveals a strong correlation between Core5 end levels and End-of-Grade (EOG) Reading proficiency during the 2021–2022 school year. This data was based on students in grades 3–5 at a large suburban school district.
The results show that Core5 aligns with EOG Reading and that Core5’s Performance Predictors can help teachers anticipate how their students are likely to perform on these state assessments, based on reaching their end-of-year, grade-level benchmark in Core5.

83% of students who met the Core5 end-of-year benchmark were proficient in North Carolina’s EOG Reading.
84% of students who were on target in Core5 in the middle of the year earned a proficient score in EOG Reading, with 90% of grade 4 students scoring at this level.
0.66 is the overall correlation between Core5 levels and EOG Reading scores, which falls within the high correlation range.
