Indiana ILEARN Scores Grow Alongside Lexia Core5 and PowerUp Use

Indiana educators are committed to improving literacy outcomes, and recent results show that evidence-based solutions make a measurable difference. During the 2023–2024 school year, one Indiana charter school saw significant gains in student learning and ILEARN performance through consistent use of Lexia® Core5® Reading and Lexia® PowerUp® Literacy.

At the elementary level, 111 students in grades 3–5 used Core5 to strengthen their foundational literacy skills. By the end of the year, 80% of students were on target and proficient on ILEARN. For older students using PowerUp, the results were just as compelling: 60% of students who reached advanced zones across all three literacy strands demonstrated proficiency on ILEARN.

Across grades 3–8, research revealed a strong, statistically significant relationship between progress in Core5 and PowerUp and ILEARN success. Average correlations of .67 for Core5 and .57 for PowerUp far exceed the threshold for strong correlation, reinforcing the impact of science of reading-aligned instruction.
