Ohio State Progress Report
During the 2023–2024 school year, Ohio schools utilizing Lexia® Core5® Reading, Lexia® PowerUp Literacy®, and Lexia English Language Development™ experienced significant improvements in literacy and language development outcomes. Grounded in the science of reading, these research-backed programs provided targeted support for students from pre-K through grade 12, helping to close skill gaps and propel learners toward grade-level proficiency.
In 2023, the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce (ODEW) launched the ReadOhio initiative to improve literacy proficiency for all Ohio students through science of reading-based methods. In 2024, the ODEW approved Core5 and PowerUp as high-quality instructional materials educators can choose to support their students. Lexia English aligns to the English Language Proficiency Assessment for the 21st Century for grades K–6.
Teachers, like those at Groveport Elementary School, celebrated the strides made by their students, with many advancing multiple reading levels within a single academic year. Core5 gave elementary students the foundational reading skills they need; PowerUp supported older students, addressing their specific literacy needs, while Lexia English ensured multilingual learners received the language development support necessary for success.
Lexia’s data-driven approach not only improved reading skills but also equipped educators with insights to better tailor their instruction to meet individual student needs.
