Data Don’t Lie: Differentiation Matters for Intervention and Enrichment
In 2022, educators at Jacksonville Lighthouse Elementary School were experiencing a true literacy emergency: Only 10% of students were reading at grade level, and the school itself was rated an “F.*”
Principal John Osborn knew quick action was necessary—and the solution the administration chose was Lexia® Core5® Reading.
Teachers and students saw fast results. Students at all levels, whether excelling or struggling, got the support they needed through Core5’s differentiated approach. The results were astounding: In just two years, reading proficiency jumped from 10% to 40%*, with 82% of students working at or above grade level when using Core5 with fidelity in 2023–2024**.
Today, Jacksonville educators continue to observe dramatic improvements. Teachers and students are more engaged, teacher retention is higher, and the school is no longer being monitored by the state*. They’re still awaiting a new letter grade and feel sure it will be something to celebrate.
Unwilling to slow down their progress, Osborn has set a lofty goal for 2025: 70% of students reading at grade level.
Find out how educators at this struggling school so quickly became a stunning success story with Core5.
