Lexia® Core5® Reading Alignment with New Jersey Learning Standards For English Language Arts

Lexia® Core5® Reading aligns to the levels of complexity and rigor of New Jersey's Student Learning Standards. Through systematic design, Core5 ensures both foundational reading proficiency and advanced skill development across the six strands of instruction, all of which support New Jersey’s standards for reading. Core5 students develop the necessary skills to be considered “literate” as outlined by the New Jersey Student Learning Standards for ELA. 

It includes these curriculum requirements: 

• Foundational skills 
• High-quality and increasingly challenging literacy and informational texts 
• Background knowledge and motivation 
• Targeted and sustained intervention for struggling students 
• Flexibility and easy to implement 

Built on the science of reading, Core5 is an online Adaptive Blended Learning program that accelerates the development of literacy skills for students of all abilities in grades pre-K–5. It supports culturally responsive learning environments and the needs of diverse learners. Students receive personalized instruction in phonological awareness, phonics, automaticity, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. The program saves New Jersey teachers up to a month of instructional time with ongoing progress monitoring through the proprietary Assessment Without Testing® technology, without stopping the flow of instruction to administer a test. Teacher-led instructional offline materials, including Lexia Lessons® and Lexia Skill Builders®, are available as well.
