When Lexia® PowerUp Literacy® was implemented in a large urban Texas district, the results were remarkable.

Student populations were above, on, or below grade level when they started. More than 90% of the students were Emergent Bilinguals (English learners). This was a high-economically disadvantaged population.

Before adding PowerUp to the curriculum, only 4% of students were at advanced word study, only 7% were considered advanced when it came to grammar, and only half were at advanced comprehension.

At the same time, 30% of the students were at foundational word study, 73% were considered foundational when it came to grammar, and 1% were at foundational comprehension.

After the implementation of PowerUp, the outcomes were impressive. There was a 91% passing rate for seventh grade STAAR Writing and a 94% passing rate for seventh grade STAAR Reading. In addition, there was a 96% passing rate for eighth grade STAAR Reading.

After implementation, only 1% of students were at foundational word study, 6% were foundational when it came to grammar, and none of them were foundational for comprehension. The number of advanced students increased dramatically, to 69% for word study, 46% for grammar, and 81% for comprehension.
