Lexia Reading Overview

Audience: Those new to Lexia Reading

Participants will view the 3 key components of Lexia Reading:  the Student Application, the Assessment without Testing ™ Reporting features, as well as the instructional supports in place for teachers - the Lexia Lessons and Skill Builders.  In the overview of the student application, participants will be provided information on Lexia Reading's inclusion within a Response to Instruction process.  A correlation of Lexia's activities to the major components of Reading as stated in the national Reading Report will also be highlighted.  Participants will become familiar with the Research of Lexia's use to improve student outcomes.

Leadership and Lexia: How to best implement Lexia

Audience: Administrators

Participants will be able to enhance the success of their implementation of Lexia Reading by reviewing the key components of the program, plan for their local implementation, and become familiar with tools designed to aid their monitoring of Lexia's use to improve their student outcomes. Assessment without Testing™, Response to Intervention and efficacy studies will also be discussed.

Monthly Launch Training

Audience: Those new to Lexia Reading

Participants will view the key components of Lexia Reading: the Student Application, the Assessment without Testing ™ Reporting features, as well as the instructional recommendations based on the data – the Lexia Lessons and Skill Builders. A tour of the student software will be conducted highlighting the correlation of the activities to the National Reading Panel and the many features that provide explicit, systematic, and structured practice on essential reading skills. Participants will learn how to enroll students, set up their classes, and install the student software. A preview of the data collected will be shown through the Assessment Without Testing ™ reporting features. Instructional recommendations resulting from the data will be explored to show how the routine of practice, assessment, and instruction - that is Lexia Reading - can be integrated into your classroom.

Lexia Reading and the Common Core Standards

Audience: Those Familiar with Lexia

Participants will review the key components of Lexia Reading: the Student Application, the Assessment without Testing™ Reporting features, as well as the scaffolds in place for instruction - the Lexia Lessons and Skill Builders. Activities completed within the student application will be explored to show the correlation to the Reading and Language Standards of the Common Core Standards. Assessment without Testing™ reporting features will also be utilized to provide evidence of student progress towards meeting those standards.

Assessment without Testing ™: Reporting and Progress Monitoring with Lexia

Audience: Those Familiar with Lexia

Participants will be able to define Assessment without Testing ™, analyze the data resulting from the student experience, and utilize the information to plan for Small Group Instruction. The purpose and use of the different reports is highlighted.

English Language Learners and Lexia Reading

Audience: Those Familiar with Lexia

Participants will be able to enhance the success of their implementation of Lexia Reading with English Language Learners by reviewing what we know about learning another language, determining what in Lexia Reading benefits a language learner, and what scaffolds are in place to aid this specific audience. A correlation of Lexia's activities to the major components of Reading, as stated in the national Reading Report, will be highlighted in relation to ELLs.
