The branching technique used in Cross-Trainer is a combination of two factors:
- the current score in the task just completed; and
- an historical average of the user's task performance.
In order for users to advance to higher levels of an activity, both values above must be at or above a "near-perfect" rating (usually a 9.5). For example, a user may receive a perfect score in Cubes at the end of level 4, but they will not be promoted to level 5 if they have had trouble with the previous several tasks completed.
Historical information for student performance is available in the 'Daily Session Details' Report in the Admin tool. A full description of all reports is available in the Teacher Guide in section 5.6-5.8.
