Using Lexia Products on Novell Networks

Description

Network installations of Lexia products where a Novell network is being used must be set up differently due to incompatibilities between the LexiaServer database service and Novell. Users wishing to create a network installation must install the LexiaServer database service on a dedicated Mac or Windows workstation that meets the server requirements as outlined in the Lexia program system requirements.

Please see the Network Installation Instructions for detail on installing your Lexia products.

  • The Server-only install will be done onto the dedicated workstation that will be used as the database server.
  • The Lexia program software will be installed on each student machine. Do not install the Lexia program software on the dedicated workstation for use by students because:
    1. the large number of sound files used during instruction
    2. folder sharing limitations on workstation operating systems seriously limit the number of users that can access the program.
