Many Lexia products were designed prior to the introduction of Microsoft's Vista operating system. Given all the changes introduced in Vista, the Lexia products prior to version 5 are not supported on the Vista platform. The information provided here is in the spirit of helpful hints for users who must run on Vista.
Installation
Windows Vista requires that installation be done by someone who has administrator access on the machine.
Network Installations
Setting up Server-side control (in the Admin and using the LexiaServer database service seems to work fine "out of the box").
Standalone Installations
Setting up a Standalone using the Records folder may require some "permissions" changes to the Records folder. Without resetting the permissions to this folder, the user may see messages that the database is locked and may get script errors. Giving the User group Full Control to the Records folder will solve the issue.
It is recommended that you “Login as Administrator” in VISTA.
1. Install Lexia into C:\Program Files using Express Install .
2. Go to the folder: C:\Program Files\Lexia Learning Systems\LLSCommon.
3. Highlight the LLSCommon folder and right click and select Properties.
4. Select the Security tab and select the Edit button (Vista may ask for authorization, select OK).
5. Find the Group name in the list called "Users" and highlight that entry .
6. In the window below it, select the Full Control checkbox under the Allow column.
7. Select OK.
Display Configuration
1. Select Control Panel
2. Select Personalization
3. Select Theme - Choose Windows Classic
4. Save your settings.
