Apple changed the permissions model on the /Library/StartupItems folder with the introduction of Macintosh OS 10.4. This folder now has root ownership and a mode of 755. This created problems with the LexiaServer installation not being seen in the Activity Monitor. If Server Installation is chosen during install, the installation program will detect the OS as being 10.4.x and will give a warning that LexiaServer cannot be installed. The other symptom is no Lexia program access from workstations. Installing Lexia Server to a MacIntosh OS 10.4.x Server:
When the Lexia Server has finished installing the service will start automatically. If it does not, try shutting down and then powering back up again. Log on as the Administrator. Go to Utilities, Activity Monitor, choose All Processes. You should see "LexiaServer" as started in your processes. |
