Description:

If OS X’s Exposé feature is invoked while a Lexia program is open, the program will become unresponsive—displaying only a black screen.

Exposé is a feature in OS X that allows a user to quickly display or hide all open windows. It can be invoked by using either the function keys (F9, F10, F11). Users should use care to not activate Exposé while in a Lexia product.

In addition to the keyboard shortcuts, Apple has also set the side buttons on the Mighty Mouse to enable Exposé by default, which makes it very easy to accidentally invoke it. Lexia recommends that the side buttons on the Mighty Mouse not be used to invoke Exposé. It can be disabled from the Keyboard & Mouse System Preference.

You may also disable Expose from being triggered when the mouse is moved to a screen corner through the Expose or Dashboard & Expose preferences.

  1. Either click the System Preferences icon in the dock, or open it from the Applications folder.
  2. Click on Expose, or Dashboard & Expose.
  3. Set each screen corner to "---" using the drop-down menus associated with each corner.
  4. If any mouse triggers are set here, disable these as well by setting their extra button assignments to "---".
  5. Close the System Preferences.

Note: This is a per-user setting in OS X. It will need to be set for each user account on the computer. The preference file that controls this setting is: ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.driver.AppleHIDMouse.plist (Where – represents the path to the user’s home folder.)
