To import a non-Lexia file into a pre-Lexia Reading database, you need a tab-delimited file. Tab-delimited files can be created from Excel files, other spreadsheet programs, or database programs, but they must be converted to text files, with a .txt extension. The field headers are essential to the import process and are case-sensitive; therefore, be sure to enter your header line to match the labels in bold, listed below. Your file must include every field, though some of the fields can be empty.

In addition, the fields must be in the following order:

1. Student ID - Data required, any number from 1 to 99,999
2. First Name - Data required
3. MI - No data required (an empty field is sufficient.)
4. Last Name - Data required
5. Username - Data required (must be unique)
6. Password - No data required (an empty field is sufficient)
7. Date of Birth - Format is mm/dd/yyyy. No data required, an empty field is sufficient
8. Sex - Value is M or F. No data required, an empty field is sufficient
9. Grade - Value is K-12. No data required, an empty field is sufficient
