Lexia Tech Note #203015
Solution: |
Students will progress from one level to the next if both of the following are true (this is what we call auto progression):
Beginning with Lexia Reading Student Software version 6, they will also progress to the next program after completing the final level of the previous product if the above conditions are both true and licenses exist for the next program. This is what we call auto promotion. If licenses do not exist for the next program, either because all are in use or because none have been purchased, the student still be promoted but the student will get the “no licenses are available” error. This error will recur each time the student logs in, until licenses for the next program are available for use. For more information on how students automatically progress from program to program, see the Lexia Reading Auto Promotion Feature Overview. Note, auto promotion from Primary Reading Level 5 to Strategies for Older Students will preset activities and units as completed. This is described in the Lexia Reading Auto Promotion Feature Overview and is so that the student does not have to repeat skills they have already done in Primary Reading activities. Auto progression enables students to progress automatically from one level to the next. This happens after a student has completed all units of all activities on the level. They will see blue stars above each activity that they have completed, and when they complete the last unit of the remaining activity, they will get a reward screen, and then they will be assigned to the next higher level. If a student is not progressing as you expect, go to the Assignments/Levels section of the Student Assignments page. You can get there from either the Student list by clicking on the student name and then the Student Assignments button, or from the Class list by clicking on the Assignments button and then clicking on the View/Modify under the Level/Activity Settings list. On the Student Assignments page, in the Lexia Programs section, verify that only one program is checked off. Then below, in the Assignments/Levels section, click on the program assigned to the student. This expands the levels. Ensure that only one level has the On radio button on. Also ensure that all activities in that level are either completed or turned on. If the student has already completed all the activities on that level, and then you make corrections to make sure only one program and one level is on, you will need to manually promote the student to the next level by turning the level they have completed off and turning the next level on. Once you make these corrections, the student should progress from one level to the next without any further manual intervention. If you have turned off an activity and do not want to have the student complete it, you will need to manually promote the student to the next level after they have completed the remaining activities. |
