Lexia Tech Note #202006
Solution: |
Lexia Reading users with various McAfee security software products installed may receive a "Please Notify Your Teacher" error, accompanied by the error code 1029. This indicates that either (or both) of the 2 websites that the Lexia Reading student software tries to communicate with are being blocked, or that the Lexia Reading program is being forbidden from accessing the internet at all. The procedures for working around this and unblocking our websites vary from product to product. We recommend contacting McAfee's technical support for detailed steps for your particular product. In general, there are 2 areas within the McAfee settings where Lexia may be blocked: The first is on a program level - Lexia Reading may need to be specifically allowed access to the internet. To do this, click on the McAfee icon in your system tray (the lower-right corner of the screen, near the clock). Then go to the Firewall settings and find the Program Permissions section. Scroll through the listed programs, and choose "Lexia Reading" or "Adobe Projector" (Lexia Reading may be listed under either name) and allow it full access to the internet. The second area is on an address level - Lexia Reading may need explicit permission to access the 2 websites it uses. These are http://update.lexialearning.com (port 80) and https://student.mylexia.com(port 443). Generally, to permit access to these sites, you'll need to click on the McAfee icon in your system tray, go to the Firewall settings, and add these 2 sites under a listing of "allowed sites," "exempted sites," "whitelisted sites," or something similarly-named. Again, for product-specific instructions for performing these steps, contact McAfee's technical support. |
