Lexia

Branching and applying QRT recommendations

Solution

The branching feature enables students to progress automatically from one unit to the next as they successfully complete each unit. This feature is set on as a default. If you want to restrict the student to a single unit within an activity, turn the branching feature off.

Customers that use the Quick Reading Test to decide Lexia program recommendations can apply those recommendations in Lexia Reading by making program assignments. Since the Quick Reading Test is not currently integrated with Lexia Reading, these program assignments must be done by hand. They can be done by a teacher (Class Access) or someone with School Administrative Access or District Administrative Access.

  1. Use the Quick Reading Test to test students. Print out the Class Recommendation report. (Students not in classes will have their recommendations printed on the bottom of their Detailed student report.) Use this report to guide your selections in the steps below.
  2. Login to MyLexia (the Lexia Reading Admin).

Program Assignment (Teachers):

  1. Click on the My Homepage tab. Scroll down to the Students and Assignments section.
  2. Click on the Assignments button.
  3. Click the View/Modify link next to the name of the student you wish to edit.
  4. You may select a program for the student to use by clicking in the box below the program name to display a check symbol.
  5. Click the + icon next to the name of the program you wish to assign to activate the level and activity selection boxes.
  6. Use the radio buttons to turn on or off levels and to turn branching on and off. Use the dropdown boxes to select a specific unit or start at unit 1.
  7. Click the Submit button at the botton of the screen to save your selections.
  8. Repeat for each student.

Program Assignment (School & District Administrators):

  1. Click on the My Homepage tab, scroll down to the Schools and Assignments
section (School Administrative Access users will have a Classes and
Assignments section). Click on the Assignments button.
  2. District Administrative Access users will have to select a school from the left dropdown menu. Select a class from the right dropdown menu.
  3. Continue on step 3 from the Teachers section.
