Problems Printing Reports

Solution:

If your Lexia Reading reports display improperly (i.e. reports being cut-off), this may be due to:

  • printer driver settings
  • improper page margins
  • printer settings/behavior unique to your make/model printer
  • the browser used to view and print the reports
  • a combination of the above

Below are some options to try and address the problem:

  • Change the page setup preferences when printing (this may need to be done on a per-page or per-report basis). The steps for doing this will vary from printer to printer and depend upon your printer driver and operating system. Changes to try include switching the page orientation to landscape, choosing an option like "Fit to page," or reducing the side margins of the page as much as possible.
    • On Windows, after you click on the print icon, the popup that comes up should include a Preferences or Properties button. Click on this button to try the suggestions above.
    • On Mac OS X, the popup that comes up has a down arrow to the right of the Printer drop down. Click on this down arrow, and it will enlarge the popup options so that you can try the suggestions above.
  • Download and install the latest drivers for your printer. This will need to be done on the machine the printer is connected to (the print server). Usually administrative rights are required to update drivers. The drivers for most printers are available from their manufacturers' websites.
  • Print the report to a PDF document first, then open the PDF and print it.
    • For Windows, this will require a third-party program capable of creating PDF files.
    • On Mac OS X, when the print dialog appears, choose the "PDF" drop-down in the lower left corner and then choose "Save as PDF." Double-click the resulting PDF file to open it in Preview, and print the document from there.
  • Open a different browser to view and print the report.
  • Select a different printer
  • Try switching to another workstation and view and print the report there
