A powerful combination of methodology and motivation propels Lexia Early Reading students into independent practice in engaging, age-appropriate activities which introduce phonological principles and the alphabetboth proven predictors of reading success.
Using the computer, students work at a pace determined by their own abilities, starting in Level 1 to practice basic phonemic skills, including rhyming, blending, segmenting, and identifying beginning and ending sounds. In Level 2, students begin to practice letter-sound correspondence for consonants, short-vowels and digraphs.
An appealing, deliberately uncluttered interface focuses young learners, allowing them to easily navigate activities on their own. The activities are interactive, and provide structured reinforcement and motivational elements while keeping students focused on each learning task. The automatic branching feature that is built into Lexia Reading programs ensures that students are provided with unlimited practice when they need it, and advances each student towards more complex tasks as they achieve mastery.
